Off the Trail

Hiking Mount Brandon was, in so many ways, the high point of this trip. The evening closed out with a full moon rise over the Irish mountains. It seemed like a perfect way to finish.

Many of my fellow travelers from the past week are completing their journey beyond the mountain. As lovely as that might be, I expect it would feel a little anticlimactic after yesterday’s climb.

My experience on the Dingle Way was exceptional. But for several reasons, it's time for me to head back in the direction of the States.

It's still a little early for me to start reflecting much on the trip. Overall, I felt there was too much time spent walking on roads, but even that seemed worthwhile when you'd get to an incredible view.

On a truly positive note, every individual I encountered was warm, friendly, and just a little bit chatty. If you ever think you've lost your smile, take a walk on the Dingle Way and you'll find it. There is joy and wonder along this trail.
